Operation Sarvashakti – Launched by the Indian Army, on January 22, 2024, to eliminate terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

In response to escalating terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army is launching Operation Sarvashakti, a strategic initiative aimed at curbing the influence of Pakistani proxy terrorist groups. Focused on the Pir Panjal mountain ranges in the Union Territory, this operation seeks to eliminate terrorists operating in the sensitive Rajouri Poonch sector. Operation Sarvashakti aims to conduct combined counter-terrorist operations on both sides of the Pir Panjal ranges. The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps and the Nagrota-headquartered White Knight Corps will execute simultaneous operations to neutralize terrorist threats. Coordinated efforts involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, Special Operations Group, and intelligence agencies are crucial components of this operation.

Consecration ceremony of the new Ram temple took place in Ayodhya

A new chapter is being written on Monday, January 22, 2024 in Ayodhya’s and the country’s history with the consecration ceremony at the newly-built Ram temple which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and over 7,000 guests. 

 The town, about 140 km west of Lucknow, was bedecked with multi-coloured flowers as recordings of ‘Ram dhun’ played from loudspeakers and townsfolk dressed as Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman paraded down the streets followed by delirious devotees, and news camera crews. 

 The magnificent Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir or Ram temple has been constructed in the traditional Nagara style. Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width 250 feet and height 161 feet. It is supported by a total of 392 pillars and has 44 doors.

Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya Claims Bronze At France’s Grand Prix

Tokyo Olympic silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya, after missing entire 2023 season due to injuries, made a comeback by securing a bronze medal at the Henri Deglane Grand Prix wrestling tournament in Nice, France. Dahiya won men’s 61kg freestyle bronze medal bout 10-4 against Kairat Amirtayev of Kazakhstan.

Dahiya overcame Julien Zinser of Germany in the round of 16 via technical superiority (13-2) followed by a 12-6 win over Zangar Kabylbekov of Kazakhstan in the quarterfinal. 

Tai Tzu Ying clinches first women's singles title at India Open

In the women's singles, fourth seed Tai eased past China's Olympic champion Chen Yufei 21-16, 21-12 in just 42 minutes, winning her first India Open gold medal.

The mixed doubles title was clinched by Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai, who outplayed China's Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin 21-16, 21-16.

China's Shi Yuqi and Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei claimed men's and women's titles respectively at badminton's India Open here on Sunday.
